CHILD PROTECTION

Volleyball England has published a document - Child Protection Policy and good practice guide (available on request).

As membership of Brentwood Volleyball Club is also open to those under the age of 18, the club hereby adopts and commits itself to VE policy and makes the following additional points. All existing and future coaches with either match or training responsibilities will be asked to as a minimum to complete a self-declaration.

Wendy Taylor who has undertaken the relevant training currently holds the responsibility of Club Child Protection Officer (check website to find out who the current officers are). She will assume overall responsibility for supervision of coaches in respect of child protection only. In the event that there is a need to report on her activities, the independent report and supervisory role will be taken by Brendan Osborne, club chairman. All juniors within the club and all active members will be informed as to who they can bring matters of concern re child protection issue to, in the first instance, and in a confidential manner – contact details are on the club website. CLUB WELFARE OFFICER, CHILD PROTECTION OFFICER – WENDY TAYLOR To be responsible for the implementation of good practice and child protection policies within the club

  1. Sign a Personal Disclosure Form and forward to the English Volleyball Association
  2. Help the club follow the guidelines laid down in the EVA Child Protection Policy and Good Practice document
  3. Ensure that Good Practice and Child protection is an item on the club management committee agenda
  4. Ensure that all club personnel working with young people have received Child protection training
  5. To ensure all appropriate documentation and forms are completed in accordance with the EVA Child Protection Policies and Procedures
  6. Ensure that any persons including coaches, officials and volunteers, working within or acting on behalf of the club, who will come into contact with juniors (including Under 18 groups), complete a Personal Disclosure Form
  7. Forward a copy of an individuals Personal Disclosure Form to the EVA Chief Executive for immediate consideration should any issues or concerns arise
  8. Keep confidential records of all documentation in a secure manner so it can be produced should it be required for reference at a later date by the EVA Chief Executive
  9. Refer any concerns and/or allegations to the EVA Chief Executive immediately using the Child Protection Referral Form
  10. Ensure coaches, officials, volunteers, parents/guardians and juniors have access to the EVA Child Protection Policies and Procedures documents
  11. Undertake relevant training as required
